Idealseal Butyl Rubber has been formulated for bedding and low movement applications in the construction, cold storage, automotive, caravan and boat building industry. The sealant forms a surface skin within 48 hours of application but remains non-setting below the surface. It has excellent weatherproofing and adhesion properties to most surfaces even at low temperatures. It has a life expectancy of 15 years for recommended applications.
Idealseal Butyl Rubber is suitable for general bedding and joint sealing in automotive, caravan and boat building applications. Other applications include use as a bedding compound between insulated panels, sealing seams in joints and ductwork, sealing narrow roofing and cladding joints and bedding aluminium window frames into timber subframes. It is compatible with most common building materials including wood, brick, concrete, glass and many metal surfaces. Not suitable for bituminous substrates, contact with the edge of laminated glass, insulation glass and constant water immersion.
Surfaces must be clean and dust free. Cut the cartridge seal and screw on nozzle which should be cut to required size. Gun the sealant firmly into joint ensuring no air is trapped behind. Tool with a spatula wetted with white spirit within 10 minutes of application.
